Hello Again,
Elysian:
I decided to take advantage of restaurant week last Wednesday during the snow storm and take a bite out of what is arguably the best burger in The Boken. Not only was the burger something to write home about, but we confirmed that they filmed Sleepers, featuring Kevin Bacon and Brad Pitt, in that restaurant a few years back. That lesser-known fun fact made the dining experience that much better.
Arthur's Steaks:
I love this place. It was Sean Powers' 30th bday dinner and we pregamed with 5-10 drinks at Green Rock. I was blown away by how big Arthur's is once you get inside and the food is unreal. Powers made a great toast at his own birthday dinner, which was unconventional but very entertaining. I would recommend the 24 oz. steak or the burger with several mugs of beer to wash it all down.
Lolas Tapa:
I am not the most cultured individual but I'm ready and willing to spread my wings in 2010. Not knowing what to expect, I crushed a valentine's dinner by ordering Monkfish, fried calamari, chicken w/ some unknown sauce, and filet mignon 'volcano style'. I was a bit surprised when the filet was literally served on a volcano with 1ft high flames coming out of it. The surrounding parties were all amazing by our order that they copied us and decided to get the same thing. One guy even shook my hand and thanked me on the way out, which is why I will be teaching a class (Tapas 101) starting in the Spring. Also, they have the largest wine list I have ever seen.
Stacks:
This new pancake house opened up in downtown Hoboken so a couple of us decided to grab the bull by the horns on our day off today and try it out. I went with the Original Pancakes w/ Maple Syrup and barely finished half my meal. The thick chocolate milk and heavy pancakes were FULLfilling to say the least (Took a Lap!). I was disappointed, however, that they named certain entrees after several streets in Hoboken, but Clinton St. didn't make the cut. Great breakfast spot...
Still Running at the Front of the Pack,
Romo
