Ahh The Sunshine State...

Followers,

I sincerely apologize for the long delay since my last post. Part of the reason was due to technical difficulties down in sunny Boca Raton Florida. Here is a nice little daily recap of my adventures in the sunshine state...

Day 1:

I fly direct from Newark to Fort Lauderdale on Jet Blue for the first time. Usually I take Continental, but it was cheaper and I heard they have Direct TV so I decided to get involved. Not only did they offer Animal Crackers for a snack, but I had about 4 feet of leg room. Unfortunately, they decided not to load my bag on the plane so I had to file a claim after waiting at the baggage claim for what seemed like 2 hours. My two buddies from work, who I was staying with that weekend before the conference, picked me up at the airport, no bags in hand, and we departed for Deerfield Beach. Clearly, our next course of action was to binge drink and eat unhealthy bar food while I repeatedly called the poor baggage claim lady to check on the status of my luggage. So much for 'The Program' this week...

Two of my buddy's friends met up to pregame and we decided to Crush Fort Lauderdale. After dominating nearly ever bar on this one strip we took a cab elsewhere. About an hour later, I found myself stranded in a sea of people somewhere in Fort Lauderdale. I apologize to those who I called while yelling at innocent bystanders and trying to find my way back to Deerfield Beach. Somehow I ran into the two guys were pregamed with and we caught a cab back to the place. Long story short, I made it back in one piece and my luggage was waiting for me at the condo.

Day 2:

After 'Lunch', I decided to get back on 'The Program' and go for a run on the beach. I failed to take into account how difficult it is to run on soft sand, especially when it's sloped, so I worried that DOMS would soon set in. Instead of replenishing my machine-like body with a Protein shake, my friends from work convinced me to play Beirut (Beer Pong). More and more people showed up from our St. Louis office who I haven't seen in over a year so I gave out several 'Best Friend Hugs' in hopes of a great night with my revered colleagues.

JB's on the Beach turned out to be the jump off on Sunday night. We knew going in that the conference didn't start until 1:30 the next day so we decided to redefine the phrase 'Getting Involved'. The cover band was playing Prince songs and I brought the 'John Wall Dance' to the bar with me that night. I'm pleased to announce that it was well received and I broke out another variation of 'The Crosswalk' which was coined as 'The Jaywalk'. The next morning, I woke up in a bed only to find out days later that my friend's dad found me in the fetal position in the corner of the bedroom floor unable to make it on the bed. What a great roommate...

Conference Recap:

The hosts did not shy away from the fact that they wanted everyone to get hammered each night. They helped our cause by setting up cocktails hours starting at 6pm lasting til around midnight. Regardless, we continued to crush the various hotel bars. They say not to escalate things in a company setting, but I have never done well with that rule. I found myself playing quarters with management and blowing it up in the faces after a good round. I'm pretty sure we bought the leftover booze at the bar and continued partying in the hotel lobby late Tuesday night, which led to me missing the morning remarks from our leadership team. All in all, I was turning heads and left a lasting impression on Boca Raton

New Era, New Tools...

South Beach:

On Thursday night we thought it might be a good idea to check if the Miami Heat were in town. Not only did they have a game that night, but they were playing the LA Lakers. It was my first time in South Beach and that place really is PartyCity.Com. The Heat dancers may or may not have been strippers and everyone looked like they were going straight to the club after the game. Kobe (aka - Black Mamba) and D-Wade (Flash) went head-to-head the entire game and it went into overtime. The seats were a little high and StubHub screwed me over by making me buy an extra ticket, but the game was unreal and well worth it. I also enjoyed it when the cashier, who sold me beers, carded me and asked if I was from the Jersey Shore. Regrettably, I told her that I do frequent the Jersey Shore. See you next Summer...

Time to get back to Hoboken to recharge my batteries for Hoboken St.Patty's Day!

No real tan to speak of...

Running at the Front of the Pack,

Romo
